Summit Springs Hotel

Summit Springs Hotel was located in Poland, Maine. Amos Knight began the resort in 1900 and catered to the Jewish community, who were not welcomed at the local Poland Spring Hotel, which was located across the lake. The hotel began as the White Oak Spring Hotel, and was later renamed in 1905.

The 300 guests of the hotel took advantage of the natural spring waters that claimed to help alleviate arthritis, kidney disease, and nervous disorders. The golf course was also a popular feature, hosting a pro-shop and clubhouse for guests.

The hotel closed in 1948 and was razed in 1956. The waters from the local springs are still used today!
